Let’s Start With the Sleeping Arrangements

Bike & Bird has five bright, comfortable bedrooms, which can accommodate up to 11 guests. One has two king single beds (which can also be pushed together for a couple); while another has two bunks and a single. It’s a cosy, fun den of colour the kids are going to love, especially when the discover the rollaway box full of toys under the bed.  There are a further three bedrooms with a king, queen and a double bed, so you can bring the whole tribe, or pick your favourite and spread out.

The main feature of the family bathroom is the green, claw footed, roll top bath – the perfect spot for a resplendent soak! Or you may prefer one of the two modern rainforest showers, while your fellow guests enjoy the privacy of the separate loo. In total you have two bathrooms, one bath, two showers, two toilets, and three hand basins.

The bedrooms all have contemporary recessed lighting for a flood of brightness when you need it, and quirky, individual bedside lamps when you don’t. All your bedlinen, pillows, doonas, bath towels and blankets are provided and all the rooms have flat screen TVs. The house is fully air conditioned, and you’ll even find an electric heater tucked away in Grandma’s wardrobe for those chilly winter nights.   We’ve tried to think of everything that’ll make you feel at home.

Eating, Dining and Lounging

Like all great family homes, at B&B’s heart is the kitchen. And this one is special.  To start with, it’s full of the latest modern appliances including a 5-burner gas cook-top and family sized oven, a large fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. But its real delight is hidden away in the cabinets and old-fashioned pantry cupboards. That’s where you’ll find serving platters of all shapes and sizes, sensibly big pots for family dinners, real coffee plungers, and enough glasses, crockery, cutlery and utensils to sink a ship. If you look a little closer you’ll even find the little kids’ cereal bowls, illustrated with animal characters from Foxwood Tales to distract them from their porridge. Bless them!

Separated from the kitchen by the hand-crafted timber breakfast bar, is a formal dining setting for eight, with its polished table and mix-and-match chairs from a bygone era.  And to the other side of the kitchen sprawls the comfy lounge with wall to wall sofas, an armchair, extra cushions and even a couple of rugs to keep your knees warm as you watch the large widescreen TV. But if TV’s not your thing, you can listen to DVDs, play one of the old-fashioned family board games, or curl up with a ripping yarn from the collection on the bookshelf we keep meaning to read ourselves.

And for those who find it impossible to completely unplug from the modern world, we’ve provided free Wi-Fi and 4 USB ports to keep your devices on the go.  Nothing has been left to chance!

But wait, There’s More!

Just when you thought this house couldn’t give anymore, you’ll discover the back deck and garden. Stepping out from the kitchen is the laundry with its family sized washing machine, dryer and large laundry tub.  And if the thought of doing laundry on holiday exhausts you, you’ll be delighted to find an inviting hammock strung out across the back deck.  The garden is fully fenced with a delightful seating area near the BBQ for those warm summer days.  And there’s a large shed with a lockable bike storage area, and a wash-down bay with bike stands and standard service tools and cleaning products provided.
